The Samsung Galaxy Y Pro is an entry level smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. The Y in the name forms part of Samsung's new smartphone naming convention, which consists of five categories: S (Super Smart) is for the very high-end smartphones, R (Refined) is for high-end, W (Wonder) is for upper mid-range, M (Magical) is for mid-range smartphones and Y (Young) is for entry level smartphones.
The Galaxy Y Pro runs on Android v2.3 and weighs just 109g. For those who love to text and need to have a real feel of a physical keyboard, the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro offers that with a full QWERTY integrated keyboard and an optical track pad for easy on-screen navigation. The 2.6 inch touchscreen sits above the QWERTY keyboard in widescreen aspect, theres accelerometer sensor and the user interface will auto-rotate when the phone is turned sideways. Theres a 3.15 megapixel camera that delivers reasonable picture and video quality.
With Flash support, Android smartphones offer compatibility with more web sites. The display is quite small compared to non-QWERTY smartphones but web pages can easily be zoomed. The Galaxy Y Pro comes with an organiser, document viewer/editor and a range of Google applications including Maps; excellent for navigation and free to use. Samsung's Social Hub is a superb messaging and social media device, with easy access to email, Facebook and Twitter.
